A. Conference Facilities
Maximum seating capacity - 1500
Fully equipped with a motorized screen; A basic PA System
with cordless microphones.
(Large groups with a music
program usually bring their own sound system)
Eating, drinking and smoking is not permitted in the,
fully carpeted, auditorium.
While the lights in the Auditorium can be switched on
selectively, they cannot be dimmed.
Four breakaway rooms on either side of the auditorium
have the following seating capacity:
No. 1 & 3 Cinema Style - 40
U - Shape - 20
No. 2 & 4 Cinema Style - 20
U - Shape - 15
The two larger conference rooms accommodate:
Protea Room Cinema Style - 100 U-Shape - 50
Disa Room Cinema Style - 50
U-Shape - 25
GNCC wants to ensure that the
auditorium, breakaway rooms and conference rooms are setup
according to the group's requirements. Please advice us as early
as possible of your requirements. An overhead projector and a
flip chart stand are also available.
Two tea lounges are
housed in THE OAKS building, as well as the Cosmos Room in
THE BIRCH, for small discussion group, leaders' meetings,
etc.
B. Accommodation
There are 72 rooms with two beds each.
52 of the rooms have a bathroom en-suite.
20 rooms in THE OAKS building are served by communal
bathrooms.
Accommodation can be booked with or without bedding.
Facilities for caravans and tents are not available.
When more than one group is in residence, it is
imperative that noise levels after 22h00 are such that guest
wishing to rest / sleep are not disturbed.
C. Parking
Paved parking for 100 cars is available. Additional paved
parking for 200 cars is planned during 1999.
Bus parking is provided outside the front gate.
Trucks and other heavy vehicles may not drive onto the
paved parking since they can damage these driveways.
D. Kitchen / Meals
Our modern, industrial kitchen is equipped to provide
meals for up to 1,000 guests. Hotel-trained chefs offer
tasty and nourishing meals at competitive prices.
More elaborate meals (including braai's) can be provided for
special functions and banquets. All
catering on the premises is done by our staff.
GNCC provides conventional or disposable cutlery and
crockery. Conventional dishes are washed by our staff.
E. Tuck-shop
The tuck-shop is situated next to the kitchen and a
supply of sweets, crisps and cold drinks is available.
It is operated by the GNCC staff and will be open at times
which suits your program.
F. Dinning Facilities
On our open under-roof terrace, dinning facilities can be
set up for 600 guests at tables. Inside facilities for
smaller groups are also available.
G. Communication
Phone: There is a public phone on the wall next to the
kitchen serving windows.
Fax: Faxes may be received by and sent from the office.
The fax number is (011)957-2108. Normal telephone
charges apply for faxes sent.
A photocopier, which guests may use, is available
in the office. There is a nominal charge per copy.
H. Security
Please keep bedroom doors locked.
The auditorium building (including the breakaway rooms,
and the kitchen) are protected by a radio-linked armed
response system. Once these facilities are vacated at night,
the alarm system is activated and will go off upon entry
thereafter.
The premises are patrolled by guards during the night.
Security lights also remain switched on between sunset and
sunrise.
While every care is taken, GNCC is not responsible for
any loss or damage to persons or their belongings, including
group equipment and other property belonging to guests.
Please also ensure the safekeeping of your valuables, car
keys, etc.
The GNCC's insurance policy does not cover the property
of guests; therefore we advise self-insurance by guests.
I. Maintenance
We endeavor to maintain our facilities in a good state of
repair. If any of our guests notice any item or installation
requiring attention, kindly advice the Manager (or his
staff). where guest damage or break any property of
GNCC, the appropriate invoice has to be raised.
J. Conduct
Guests' conduct will be in harmony with what is
appropriate in a Christian convention centre.
Leaders are expected to ensure that:
NO SMOKING
NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOL, and
NO SOCIAL DANCING
takes place on the premises. Firearms, alcohol and pets
may not be brought onto the premises.
K. Children
Where group members brings children to a conference
organised for adults, groups are requested to arrange for a
separate programs for the children, who otherwise will get
bored. Such a program should be supervised
by a responsible person.
L. What to bring
if guests provide own bedding, then for hygiene purposes,
it is recommended that each person brings his / her own
sheet, sleeping bag / blankets, and pillow.
Mosquito repellent (no coils please)
First aid kit, GROUPS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN FIRST
AID.
M. Booking Procedure
A tentative booking reserves the dates required.
Confirmation should be given as early as possible.
A non-refundable deposit of 30% of total estimated costs
for the booked event is no later than 60 days before the
event.
The final number of persons booked needs to be confirmed
no later than 14 days before the booking date.
In cases where a tentative booking has been made, and
another group requests the same dates, the payment of the
deposit will convert the tentative booking into a confirmed
booking. The group which first made a reservation
accompanied by payment will be given preference.
